| You'll Need:Worsted yarn,approximately 22yds multicolor(M) & 42yds solid(S),G hook,polyester fiberfil Gauge:Not important.Use a hook small enough to make a tight stitch so the stuffing doesn't show. Note:All Turtle parts are made working in a continuous round.Do not join.Mark the end of rounds. It will be easier to work the first several rounds on the wrong side.When a part calls for decreasing,weave in the beginning tail,turn piece to right side,then continue working. To Make: Belly- Rnd 1:With S,ch 2,loosely.6 sc in second ch from hook(6 sc). Rnd 2:2 sc in each st around(12 sc). Rnd 3:1 sc in next st,2 sc in next st around(18 sc). Rnd 4:1 sc in next 2 sts,2 sc in next st around(24 sc). Rnd 5:1 sc in next 3 sts,2 sc in next st around(30 sc). Rnd 6:1 sc in next 4 sts,2 sc in next st around(36 sc). Rnd 7:1 sc in next 5 sts,2 sc in next st around(42 sc). Rnd 8:1 sc in next 6 sts,2 sc in next st around(48 sc). Rnd 9:1 sc in next 7 sts,2 sc in next st around(54 sc).Sl st in next st.Fasten off,weave in ends. Shell- With M,rep same as Belly.Do not fasten off. Body- With wrong side of shell & belly together,working with shell on top,sc through sts on shell & belly to within 16 sts before first sc.Stuff lightly.Sc remaining sts together.Sl st in next st.Fasten off,weave in end. Cut 1/2yd multicolor yarn to use in making facial features later. Head- Rep Rnds 1-3 of Belly. Rnd 4-6:Sc in each st around(18 sc). Rnd 7:1 sc in next st,sc next 2 sts tog around(12 sc). Rnd 8:Sc in each st around(12 sc).Stuff lightly. Rnd 9:Sc next 2 sts tog around(6 sc). Rnd 10:Sc in each st around(6 sc).Sl st in next st.Fasten off,leaving a long tail for sewing.Add a little more stuffing,if you wish.Flatten neck in half so the sl st is on the right-hand corner.Sew to bottom of shell over center three sc's on one flat side.Weave in end. Using 1/2yd multicolor,sew on facial features. Legs-Make 4 Rep Rnds 1-2 of Belly. Rnd 3:Sc in each st around(12 sc). Rnd 4:Sc next 2 sts tog around(6 sc). Rnd 5-6:Sc in each st around(6 sc).Sl st in next st.Fasten off,leaving long tail for sewing.Flatten foot in half so the sl st in on the right-hand corner.Sew to center 3 sc's on either side of head of 2 flat sides of shell.Weave in end. Tail- Ch 6,sl st in second ch from hook,sc in next ch,hdc in next ch,dc in next 2 chs. Ch 1,3 sc along side edge in dc just made.Fasten off,leaving a long tail for sewing.Sew to center 3 sc's on opposite side of head. |
